A1 - Basic user (introductory or discovery level)

- Understands and uses familiar everyday expressions and very simple statements aimed at satisfying concrete needs

- Being able to introduce oneself or someone else

- Being able to ask and answer questions about a person

- Communicate in a simple way if the interlocutor speaks slowly and clearly and is cooperative

A2 - Basic user (intermediate or common level)

- Understands isolated sentences and frequently uses expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, work, etc.)

- Being able to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters

- Can describe in simple terms his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need

B1 - Independent user (threshold level)

- Understands the main points of a discussion when clear, standard language is used and when it concerns familiar matters at work, school, leisure, etc.

- Being autonomous in most situations encountered while traveling in an area where the target language is spoken

- Being able to produce simple and coherent speech on familiar topics and in areas of interest

- Being able to describe an event, an experience or a dream, to describe a hope or a goal and to briefly give reasons or explanations for a project or an idea

B2 - Independent user (advanced or independent level)

- Understands the essential content of concrete and abstract topics in complex text, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization

- Communicates spontaneously and fluently with a native speaker

- Expresses himself/herself clearly and in detail on a wide range of subjects, gives an opinion on a current topic and explains the advantages and disadvantages of different options

C1 - Experienced user (autonomous level)

- Understands long and demanding texts and grasps implicit meanings

- Express themselves spontaneously and fluently without much searching for words

- Usees language effectively and flexibly in social, professional and academic life

- Express themselves on complex subjects in a clear and well-structured manner and demonstrate control of the linguistic tools of organization, articulation and cohesion of discourse

C2 - Experienced user (mastery level)

- Understands with ease virtually everything heards or reads

- Being able to reconstruct facts and arguments from a variety of written and spoken sources, summarizing them in a coherent way

- Expresses him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, and make fine distinctions in the meaning of complex subjects
